Geopark Kyffhaeuser - Unexpected encounters on stony paths


The varied scenery of the GeoPark Kyffhaeuser totally measuring 800 square kilometres is considerably marked by its various geological features.
You can find a pure artificial landscape enriched by beechwoods on the
Shelly limestone of the Hainleite Hills, lean lawn And oak woods on
the gypsum karst terrain of the Kyffhaeuser Mountains, Beach aster
on salt deposits. In the pastures, but marks of potash mining, too.

As of now you can discover parts of this varied scenery on altogether
9 Geopaths. You can choose from short trips, such as on the Geopaths
“Barockdorf Bendeleben”, a village in baroque style, “Bad Frankenhausen” and “Around the Kyffhaeuser Monument“ , as well
hiking tours on the “Geopath Artern” or on the “Geopath Sued Kyffhaeuser”.
In case you are a keen cyclist, we can offer short trips such as “Geopath Steinrinne” , but there are longer and more exhausting trips as well,
for instance the “Geopath Hohe Schnecke”. 




On your was you can experience touristic sights for instance the Adventure Mine in Sondershausen, the Barbarossa Cave, the Kyffhaeuser
Monument or the Royal Palace in Tilleda.

Of course you can satisfy your thirst for knowledge in the Regional Museum of Bad Frankenhausen or on the excavation site of the Stoneageman in Bilzingsleben.
