Panorama Museum

In the Panorama Museum opened in 1989 above Bad Frankenhausen the largest monumental panoramic painting of Germany is waiting for its visitors.

Originally planned as a memorial Werner Tübke managed to create an impressing historically rich theatrum mundi (theatre of the world). More than 3000 gorgeosly colourful figures, painted by the Leipzig artist in the style of the Old Masters, are a vivid record of life in the 16th century on an canvas of 14- by 123 metres.
So this painting belongs to one of the most spectacular projects of younger history of art.

The origin at this location is by the way due to the fact that the decisive Battle of the Peasant's War took place here.
